Instructional Materials L.E.A.R.N.S. Standard Alignment is a database that was created several years ago by the University of Nebraska and Educational Service Unit Media Coordinators.

The main purpose of the database creation was to link video resources held by Educational Service Unit Media Centers with the Nebraska standards.

WEB ADDRESS IS: http://esumedia.unl.edu/

Currently the Instructional Materials database holds the Language Arts; Mathematics; Science and Social Studies video collections that are held by the Educational Service Unit Media Centers across the state.

Once the database has been accessed, any title can be selected and the database in turn will provide a list or listing of the standard or standards that are supported by viewing that title.

The process can also be reversed, educators can select a standard and the database will display the title or titles that can be viewed which support that standard.

Since Nebraska educators are the viewers of Educational Service Unit Media Center resources as well as the most knowledgeable with regards to the Nebraska standards, educators throughout the state have been providing the database with the reviews and standards informational matches.

Standards/Video Alignment Project

ESU 17 area teachers are needed to serve as consultants (via your computer) in a statewide project designed to match Nebraska L.E.A.R.N.S. standards to educational video titles.

Consultants will be paid a stipend of $10 per title reviewed, maximum amount to be paid out to any educator is $500.00. Teachers select the title they want to review from a list, contact ESU 17 Media Center to have the title sent to them. After previewing, the teacher will access the website and select the standards that are supported by the video title.

Each title can be reviewed two times.

Teachers from all content areas are welcome to participate. If you wish to join other educators from across the state in helping to provide standard alignment of video titles, contact: Germaine Johnson.
